It appears that in non-smokers with lung cancer more abnormalities are found. The affected tissue is genetically more complex than for lung cancer in ex-smokers, says Kelsie Thu, BC Cancer Agency, the Research Centre in Vancouver, Canada. Non-smokers with lung cancer have therefore require a different treatment than ex-smokers. The study shows that lung cancer in nonsmokers other processes are involved. It is important that these patients an alternative treatment method is developed. About 25 percent of non non-smokers, worldwide, get lung cancer. The research was presented at the 14th World Conference on Lung Cancer in Amsterdam, the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer
