A mobile phone on six shows traces of feces, according to a study in the UK published Friday, challenging the poor hygiene of the users who do not wash their hands properly after going to toilet.
This study, conducted by scientists at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine Institute and Queen Mary, University of London, also reveals a tendency of people to lie about his health.
95% of respondents in the study said they washed their hands as soon as possible. Yet 16% of hands and 16% of mobile phones of the participants showed signs of E. coli bacteria in the intestine and therefore in the feces.
Some strains of this bacteria can be fatal, such as the O104 strain that killed 48 people in Germany in June.
"I hope that the thought of carrying the E. coli on their hands and on their phones, people will be more scrupulous to the toilet. Wash hands with soap is a simple thing but it can save your life "said Dr. Val Curtis, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
The scientists conducted the study in 12 cities in the United Kingdom and conducted 390 levy on mobile phones and hands of users, before analyzing the germs.
