TV On The Radio bassist dies of lung cancer

Gerard Smith, the bassist of the rock band TV On The Radio, on April 20 deceased from lung cancer.

The other band members have the sad news posted on the official website of TV On The Radio. "We are very sad that after a courageous battle against lung cancer death of our beloved friend and bandmate Gerard Smith to confirm. Gerard was on the morning of April 20, 2011 died. We will miss him terribly."

For the death of Smith, TV On The Radio the next day five shows in the U.S. canceled. Smith found out he had cancer shortly after the band recording their new album was completed.
