Syrian activists on Friday told Bikyamasr.com that they are recharging and have gained motivation after seeing the death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Thursday.

“We are ready to push forward and get rid of our own dictator,” said Hamid, a 28-year-old former accountant now turned activist against the Bashar al-Assad regime. Videos and eyewitness accounts have repeatedly revealed the horrific nature of the violence, with the government attacking unnarmed protesters across the country, despite calls from the international community to halt attacks.

Syrian forces continued its arrests of activists and opposition on Thursday in the town of Homs that continues to witness ongoing military operations.

Opposition representatives from both Syria and Yemen made numerous statements on the occasion of Gaddafi's death on Thursday. Certainly expectations are high for opposition groups in Syria and Yemen. However, active opposition groups also exist in other Middle Eastern countries, and even in Saudi Arabia a close American ally, the Arab spring movement has emboldened women to insist on more rights under the current regime.
